Subject:	Gnu C versus Windows versus Novell Net

  I have Windows for Workgroups.
  Previously, if I had called Novell:-
    (a) Gnu C++ programs called in Windows ran OK except that the (Gnu C
`system()' subroutine to call DOS) didn't work;
    (b) Windows's `DOS prompt' icon worked, except that in DOS-in-Windows the
prompt showed as only `C>' without the cud=rrent dierctory name.
  But now, trying to call a Gnu C++ program from Windows (whether from an icon
or from the File Manager, instead causes a Windows fault box "This application
has violated integrity due to a general protection fault and will be
terminated" (or similar). Clicking the Windows `DOS prompt' icon causes the
same. (All of these run OK if I haven't called my Novell server since
booting.) What the !"stlg$%^&*()==~#@' is going on!?!?!?!!?
  When I login to Novell, I get this:- "Netware Workstation Shell v3.32
(931117)".
  The only recent change that I know of is that a few days ago a WWW access
program called Netscape was put in my PC. (When these faults happened I had
not called C:\NET\BIN\TCPIP.EXE or my WWW access program since booting.) These
changes were made to my C:\WINDOWS\SETUP.INI :-
