Here's a summary of the often asked question , How do I debug a
graphics application programed under DJGCC.
The best way I've found as my program produces all graphcs
was to use MSHELL written by DJ Delorie which can be found
at ftp:omnigate.clarkson.edu//pub/msdos/djgpp/pub/mshell*.zip
This program redirects all text mode characters and redirects
them to a monochrome card, thus the debug text ends up on the
2nd monitor and my SVGA gets the graphics as normal. Simply evoke
mshell go32 -d gdb testprog ... and debug away ;)
I was informed by DJ that it is possible to use a CGA
card/monitor but you would have to hack the source and lose the
ability to do graphics , which sadly is the point ;)
FINDING monochrome cards/monitors can be a drag however as most
places dont have monochrome stuff at a good price, if at all. I
finally located a monitor to match the monochrome card by calling
up the local universities asking them if they had any old eq.
For those who don't know, there seem to be 2 types of monochrome
connectors, 1 is a 9 pin connector, the other is just a RCA plug.
Be sure to get the right card/monitor ...
Another source I found looking in one of the alt.forsale.xxx groups
was :

Subject: Re: Monochromes + CGA monitors for Sale
3 12" IBM Monochrome(model 5151) $10
1 13" ARCHIE Monochrome $10
We can get monochrome video boards for you for $7.
Payment can be done in 2 ways: 1) send a check/money order made out
to Computer Resources Network, Inc or 2) COD via UPS but with an
additional $5 charge.

In closing, If you are doing graphics and don't want your program's
output clouded with debug information, find a monochrome card and
monitor ! For under $20 it's well worth the investment .
Thanks to all those who took the time to help.
