First let me say I have read the FAQ and am using gdb ;) However
gdb has problems in graphics mode. I'm currently using the latest
release of gcc , gdb, and libgrx < Really nice packages all > 

What I'd like is to have my program running and be able to have
the debugging output sent to a 2nd monitor. 

If you use such a setup , please reply it me whats needed in
the way of hardware and software.

I'll try to post a summary of the replies.
