Subject:	Q. Using syntax highlighting and color in emacs

Hi,

I'm using (O)emacs V19.19 and am having some trouble using syntax coloring 
and highlighting.

I set up my foreground and background colors to give white text on a blue 
background.

Then I load the hilit19.el package which gives me syntax-sensative coloring 
in source files.

Everything works OK, *except* that the background to all syntax-colored text 
is black.  This leaves the
screen in an ugly state.  I would prefer that my default background color be 
preserved.

This happens regardless of what changes I make to the default color map in 
hilit19.el.

I suspect there is some strange interaction b/n faces.el, hilit19.el and the 
PC color hardware
but I don't really know.

Has anyone else encountered/solved this problem?
