For all of you who have been waiting with baited breath, the
"(A)bort/(F)ail/(R)etry ?" message has finally disappeared from my
personal console, and the Yaseppochi-gumi list archive (URLs are in
.sig) has been updated to current. Sorry! I have no excuse; I am
just a space case these days.
The djgpp.9502.stripped.gz and djgpp.950301-15.stripped.gz (this
probably actually goes up to Mar 16 or even part of 17) are now
searchable and available by WWW and anonymous FTP. The stripped files
are approximately 50% of the unstripped files, an awful lot of excess
header verbiage IMO. This leads me to suspect that my artificially
intelligent .sig-stripper has contracted brain-damage and decided that
anything with "++" in it is actually Aaron Ucko's .sig, thus deleting
all articles about "C++". I *may* get around to checking this
sometime this month. (But only hard-core optimists would hold their
breath.) If you're paranoid that way, the unstripped versions are
gzipped (about 25% larger than the gzipped strip files) and are
available as djgpp.950*.gz. They are not searchable. If they
disappear, it means that I did check and no useful content was lost to
the stripper script.
I appreciate your patience (ie, lack of public flames---anybody been
following the UVV thread on news.groups?) I also appreciate those who
have gently reminded me in private---it's really important to know
that the service is useful enough that somebody asks for the updates.
Don't hesitate to write if I get behind.
It's nice to see that DJGPP activity is back up to a noticable
fraction of accesses after two depressing months of people only
looking at earthquake casualty lists and disaster photos.
