I never heard about this one. Guess it's always something new out

How did you compare them? Any particular application, any specific
benchmark programs?

My boy (and occasionally me, too) plays DOOM and DOOM II all the time
with SmartDrive--never saw any problem whatsoever. I guess it's
something in the CMOS settings or the motherboard design. But this
really belongs to rec.games.doom.XXX...

SmartDrive which comes with DOS 6.x does CD-ROM caching also,
although I don't use this (I use the MSCDEX caching instead).
