Stripping off the go32_ prefix works.  Also, upgrading to 1.12maint3 which I
happened to notice yesterday at omnigate seems to have fixed the debugger
crashes.

Will it have the Borland-like key mappings?  I just put some of them back
today in my copy. 

Here's an idea I'll thow out for consideration: under os/2, could the remote
debugger talk to another window through a pipe instead of using a com port?
