If somebody really needs Pentium-specific version of gcc, he/she can get
gcc-i2.4.0p.tar.gz (gcc with Intel Enhancements for the Pentium CPU/Intel
Architecture based on gcc-2.4.0) from ftp.intel.com or gcc-i2.5.8p.tar.gz
(port to bring Intel's version up to 2.5.8 by Laurent Chemla) from
tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/packages/GCC/src/ or some other sites via FTP.
Compiling them under djgpp environment are not so difficult unless you
are quite a noivce of djgpp. Intel has already contributed their code
to FSF, so you can wait official release of gcc including Pentium-specific
optimization from FSF (I've heard that Richard M. Stallman had stated FSF
would incorporate Intel's code into future release of gcc when he was in
Japan:-)).

# Increase in performance obviously depends on codes that you run,
# but in my experiences, it rated between 10 to 20% with Pentium (Intel
# stated it's up to 25%).
