What I'm wondering here is that maybe GCC was built on a machine that
had a math-coprocessor, either builtin or external. This may cause
the newly built version of GCC to use FPU instructions, and hence
cause your problems.

I'm not sure whether there is an easy way to resolve the problem. I
suggest getting the original DJGPP files from
oak.oakland.edu:/pub/msdos/djgpp and use the GCC.EXE that comes with
the distribution.
