Yes.
I agree with Bob Babcock (despite my own special concern vis-a-vis
V2.0 and DESQview/X): version upgrades in DJGPP have been pretty
transparent. Let's just put V2.0 in "djgpp", and since despite the
recent message, DJ isn't "God" (RMS and Linus share that post last I
heard...) nor even "Kibo", leave (for the medium term) the last 1.x
version in "djgpp_v1", or perhaps more descriptive now is "go32_gcc".
IMO, medium term can probably be defined as "when graphics work
smoothly under dpmi/gcc", that being the biggest general category of
forseeable problems with V2.0.
Another possibility would be subdirectories: perhaps
"djgpp/go32_gcc" and "djgpp/dpmi_gcc", or perhaps mix'n'match with
"djgpp/aout", "djgpp/coff", "djgpp/elf", "djgpp/go32" and "djgpp/dpmi"
etc with symbolic links in "djgpp" to the current preferred
configuration. (This (a) is far too much work for somebody,
presumably DJ, who definitely has better things to do, and (b)
probably is too complicated to help anybody anyway. But I throw it
out for consideration on the chance that something better thought-out
will be doable.)
Simtel authorities permitting.... If they won't, I will keep it
indefinitely, although that's definitely second best. Nobody mirrors
my site. :-) Nor do I have the resources to more or less guarantee
uptime as Simtel does.
