It would be nice if this worked, but GCC is too modular--the assembler doesn't
even know that there _is_ such a thing as a preprocessor. GCC has gone from
cpp | cc1(plus) | cpp | as to cpp | cc1 | as.
It would be nice if there was more choice, tho...<shrug>
