'lo all,
Last night I started porting the Gravis UltraSound SDK from Watcom to
DJGPP, so far so good. I haven't done a test run on thier sample progys
yet, but will today. I don't think there will be any problems since it
ported straight with very little changes. The library itself only
provides minimal control over the GUS and I've heard from some that it
pretty buggy, so I'll probably wind up rewriting the whole thing anyway.
I am getting some help from tran and J. Jenson the resident internet
experts on the GUS.
What I'm hoping to do is create a generic soundlib that has module
and multiple sound card support build in. I do know for a fact that I
will add module playback under the GUS for .s3m's. I've gotten the
module format from Sami (Psi/FC) and it looks straight forward. I also
want to include at least one other module format in the initial release,
so if anyone has code written for either DJGPP or would be willing to
port other code to DJGPP for like Fast Tracker or Protracker mods (prefer
PT since FT][ will be out soon) please let me know.
As far as multiple sound modules, I don't know that much about sound
card programming in general (just now learning GUS), but I would like to
integrate work already done by the author of sblaster.zip and Chris
Christensen's libgame.a, but again, I'll need some help getting it
taylored to playing modules. How different is SB1.0 comparted to
wavetable?
Anyway, I need beta testers for this prerelase, so let me know if you
have a GUS and would be willing to test/work on it...
