  What exactly does the -m486 compiling command do?

0xf)  32 bit compilers: good.  
0xe)  16 bit compilers: bad.
0xd)  I like big ints.
0xc)  I like big arrays.
0xb)  Its free!

0x8)  Makes you feel a little like you are a big, powerful UNIX user, when in
    fact all that you have is a PC.
