On a related subject, (Yes, I know this is really a FSF question, but I'm
asking here anyhow...), has any work been done on precompiled headers for
gcc?  This would improve compile speed.   BTW, yes, I already know that BCC
supports this, but I seem to recall seeing an academic paper on this subject
recently.
