I think it is related to profiling; I know that I've never gotten profiling
to work on our suns because of unresolved references to mcount.  I find the
string _mcount in libc_p.a, so you might try linking with the -lc_p option.
(There are other libraries with names ending in _p; you may also need some of
them.)
