The possible reason of not getting the text in graphics mode is the lack of 
text output support in BIOS. It is quite normal in HiColor modes, but with
accelerated boards this can also happen for other graphics modes. If this
is the case, the only solution is to use graphics lib text output functions
(sorry, no system calls with text output...).
