I have successfully used the RDSTDERR program to redirect the
compiler error messages to a file. You can get this program
via anonymous ftp from Simtel20 or one of its mirror sites, e.g.

    oak.oakland.edu:/pub/msdos/sysutl/rdstderr.zip

Another program called REDIR in the same directory also works.
