Somebody wrote an article on how to set an "?????" envirement variable
= to 2r1 but forgot to say which one and for what interpreter (COMMAND.COM
or 4DOS.COM) and te Gurrus here says that you can't do that in either.

Well I 'strings'ed COMMAND.COM and there is no such visible variable.
Can the Mstr that wrote that article (not saved) clarify himself PLEASE.
