Hi, netters:
Thank those who responded my cry for help, and everyone else who
tolerated seeing this kind of 'help' message once again. I spent
the weekend tracking the source of the error, and this morning while
I was still half asleep, the god of C pointed me to the right point.
I then came to school and solved the problem: it was so easy.
The section of the program which caused trouble allocates memory
for a rather complicated structure (linked list). Somehow one pointer
was not initialized before it was used. It evaded the unsophisticated
Turbo C++ and gave perfect results. Adding to the trouble is that the
program didn't stop at the wrong statement, rather it reappeared at a
perfectly innocent statement way back of the program. Well, that's
the end of the story.
Thank you all for the help. Have a productive week.
