GZIP does not handle all PKZIP'd files.  One restriction is that it
only knows how to deal with "deflated" or "stored" files.  There may
be others.  It exits with an error message as soon as it encounters
such a thing.  So, you may be able to use it, but if you want public
domain and reasonable convenience, you'll have to use Info-Zip's
utilities.
