>aout2exe prog is equivalent to copy /b stub.exe+prog prog.exe which still requires a go32.exe to be in the path while copy /b go32.exe+prog prog.exe binds go32.exe itself to the executable. The latter method requires royalties to be paid when you sell the .exe to someone else. The former method (using stub.exe) relieves you from that duty. --Chris
