    Hi:
        After installing release 222, I found that the GCC
        command hangs the machine when  CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT
        are minimal (i.e. no himem.sys, no ramdisk, no emm386), but
        it works correctly when the 386MAX DOS extender is loaded. 
        Can someone explain this behaviour? I understand that GO32 
        is a standalone DOS extension and that it should work
        without the 386MAX.
