The VGA hardware uses the same VRAM to store graphics as it does to store text fonts and layout info. Changing modes causes some information from the previous mode to be lost. If you're clever, you could probably get away with saving the text screen and a small part of the graphics screen - not all of it will get destroyed. DJ dj AT ctron DOT com Life is a banana.
