Well, I don't have or use DEMACS, but I do use the combination of the
other three: the latest version of 4DOS, DJGPP 1.08, and I'm even using
the real-mode make that comes with Borland C++ 3.0, `maker.exe' (which
I didn't know was there, and stumbled upon accidentally).
And I use all these items in a DESQview/X DOS window with absolutely
no problems.
It would seem that DEMACS is the culprit (as it says in the title, I
know, but I just wanted you to know that I am working with that
combination -- sans DEMACS -- successfully).
