All the free stuff to build X on DOS sounds nice, but aren't you just
going to wind up with an X server? Look at what Quarterdeck had to work
with and it *still* took them 2-3 years to come up with something other
than the server.
If all you want is X on your 386/486 PC for free, then go with Linux
or 386BSD. It's worth the 80 meg (you could get by with 40-50)
partition to have a nice development environment for X (gcc 2.2.2,
shared libs, etc.).
