Well, to sum it up, I don't like the idea. Isn't this what environment variables are FOR? To specify the user's environment? If you want them in a single file, why not create mygcc.bat which contains: <environment settings> gcc.exe <unset environment settings> -- Eric Backus ericb%hplsla AT hplabs DOT hp DOT com (206) 335-2495
