Subject: | How to get byte-packed buffer structures? |
There is a mechanism in gcc to modify the alignment (packing) of structure entries, but unfortunately it only allows increases. Send mail to gcc AT prep DOT ai DOT mit DOT edu to request that gcc be able to pack structures. I got a patch once to fix this, which was also sent to the gcc maintainers, but I prefer to keep the gcc sources clean. DJ dj AT ctron DOT com Life is a banana.
