Using gcc -O -o work work.cc 

on a C++ file which contains #include "iostream.h"
                              #include "complex.h"
                and           #include "conio.h"

the compiler chugs along for awhile, but when finished, has given
me no "work1" file, no warnings, and no errors.

What happened?
