I used the patch utility and got into some difficulty when it failed. It adds a # to the end of MSDOS filenames even when they are already on their character limit e.g xyz.trm gives a new file xyz.trm# Under MSDOS this is truncated to the same as the original file and the work done so far is lost. Is the source of this utility available (It seemed to be the only one which wasn't) so that this could be sorted. Cheers John
