Chris,

Everything looks fine. Regarding what constitutes a valid 
passwd entry, Corinna and I thought that fields 3 & 4 ought
to contain valid numbers and nothing else. Your current
test seems less strict.
One ChangeLog nit: it's string.h (not strings.h).
