You might also consider trying

>    -Wpointer-arith
>    -Wcast-align
>    -Wwrite-strings
>    -Wstrict-prototypes
>    -Wmissing-prototypes
>    -Wmissing-declarations
>    -Wcomments

which is (with one exception due to a coding trick used in squid, and
not AFAIK in cygwin) the standard that code in squid is expected to
compile to without warning.
