Yes, I tried it. The winsup directory is in the same path as before
but when I try a `configure' in the parent directory (where also
the newlib and libiberty dirs reside) and then a `make' I got
the error message:

make[1]: Entering directory `/export/src/cygwin/i686-pc-cygwin/winsup'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `distclean'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/export/src/cygwin/i686-pc-cygwin/winsup'
make: *** [configure-target-winsup] Error 1

It's the one from the CD (ld --version results in the output of
`GNU ld 2.9-cygwin-990830').

Which one? The `latest official release' or the latest snapshot???
