A lot goes in the other list as well, so it's probably wise to at least 
check the mailing list archives of the users list; eg., the problem you're 
reporting here has been discussed there already.

For the C++ library problem, check the gnu-win32 mailing list archives for
the postings on "B20: bad support for Mingw" and "Mingw32, g77 and B20" at
http://www.cygnus.com/ml/gnu-win32/1998-Nov/.
