Subject: Q: Why a space in uname output

I have two questions.

1) Why was the output of uname for the system name changed from
CYGWIN32_(OS) to "CYGWIN (OS)/(VERSION)"?

2) Could the space be removed?

This breaks some programs and configure scripts which are not prepared
to deal with spaces in uname's output. RPM for example.

I realize RPM should be changed, however RCS and CVS still do not
support spaces in the user's name either. Spaces are not traditionally
used in UNIXish systems.
