Ok, thanks. I'll build a DLL from CVS HEAD without Steve's patch tomorrow
and let you know if I still observe the xterm deadlock.

It occurred to me that the slowness I observed then was probably due to an
ssh connection. I have been pasting large wads of text into a local xterm
(using a cygwin DLL built with Steve's patch) for a while now with no
noticeable slowdown.

Well, I'm glad to help, but as I'm the only one who sent feedback on this
