DOS offers little help ;) Deja.com seems to indicate that it isn't possible with a floppy without trying to do a seek. I don't think I want to slow down every mount, so I've removed floppies from consideration. I also removed CD-ROMs with no media from consideration. If there is media in the drive then it is reported. cgf
