I don't know (or remember?) what you're referring to but the xfree
mailing list was started with one purpose in mind -- to port the XFree86
server to Windows.  There is minimal traffic on the xfree mailing list
so "splitting" it does not make sense.

In the same light, it may not make sense to split cygwin-developers
either.  We can use it to discuss ports of the core distribution
for a while.  If this becomes hard to manage, I will start a new list.
