I'm using tcsh, and I have the effect, that the setting
TERM=linux (regardless of using termcap or ncurses) in notty
mode doesn't move the rest of the line to the right, if I insert
characters.
TERM=ansi works better.

Correct. I thought, the default terminal setting should help the
beginner and setting TERM in the cygnus.bat file, too, would be a
good prototype for beginners.
