Well, Corinna, since you are a newbie, it's OK that you don't know this.
I mean, having so little to do with Cygwin, you can't be expected to know
internal information like this intimately... wait, your Corinna Vinschen,
right?  *The* Corinna Vinschen?  Cygwin developer for years now?  Hm, 
well then that changes the picture significantly.  If you say Cygwin 
runs on Windows platforms only and calls Win32 APIs, I believe you! ;-)
