Merry Christmas!

I've made a new version of binutils available for download. This is
basically just a new snapshot of binutils, reflecting a couple of months
of changes. Hopefully it will work better than the previous version but
there are no guarantees. If it doesn't work better, send mail to
cygwin AT cygwin DOT com and drop back to the previous version.

Actually, there is one potentially useful change. I've resurrected
the /usr/i686-pc-cygwin/bin directory. This directory now contains
links to the binutils tools in /usr/bin, which should make building
cross-compilers a lot easier since gcc will now look there rather
than in the current directory for things like 'as.exe' and 'nm.exe'.
(If this makes no sense to you, then don't worry. You probably don't
have to worry about this exciting new addition.)

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your
system.

Run setup and answer all of the questions. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
choose a mirror site for your download. The 'sources.redhat.com' (aka
cygwin.com) site is badly overloaded. The mirrors below have the latest
version of this package:

ftp://ftp.sunsite.utk.edu/pub/cygwin/ (US)
ftp://gd.tuwien.ac.at/gnu/cygwin/ (Austria)
ftp://sunsite.org.uk/Mirrors/sourceware.cygnus.com/pub/cygwin/ (UK)

The setup.exe program will figure out what needs to be updated on your
system and should install the newer package automatically.

If you have questions or comments, please send them to the Cygwin
mailing list at: cygwin AT cygwin DOT com . I would appreciate if you would
use this mailing list rather than emailing me directly. This includes
ideas and comments about the setup utility or Cygwin in general.

If you want to make a point or ask a question, the Cygwin mailing list
is the appropriate place.
