Ah, many apologies for not following my own advice.  I'm sorry to have
made you spend time responding to my own confusion.

Just to be definitive: The old mailing list software *did* allow
retrieving old messages via email the new one does not.

I was not in any way suggesting that you go elsewhere to discuss things.
I was just pointing out that cygwin.com is not the only place that
*archives* email and was suggesting that possibly one of the other sites
out there might offer what you're looking for.  It's probably unlikely
but I thought I'd mention it.
