Subject: Does shared memory support work on cyg64?
X-IsSubscribed: yes

When I run the Xwin server, it says shared memory isn't available.

I thought running the cygserver took care of this?

Does this not work on cyg64?

Besides the Xwin server, When I try initialize pulseaudio, it
tries to use shared memory as well, but fails to load (no reason
why -- just fails)... tried setting --log-level==debug, but
couldn't find the output anywhere...(nothing in var/log...)

I have it running as system:
UID PID PPID TTY STIME COMMAND
...
   SYSTEM 8996 7516 ? 01:54:27 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon
Bliss\la 1184 7632 cons1 02:53:19 /usr/bin/ps
Bliss\la 3004 1 cons2 01:44:31 /usr/bin/bash
   SYSTEM 7516 1 ? 01:54:27 /usr/bin/cygrunsrv
Bliss\la 4316 1 ? 01:44:48 /prog64/vim/gvim

-- but my Xstartup log claims not to see it:
[197140.538] MIT-SHM extension disabled due to lack of kernel support
[197140.538] XFree86-Bigfont extension local-client optimization disabled due to
lack of shared memory support in the kernel
[197140.553] glWinSelectGLimplementation: Loaded 'cygnativeGLthunk.dll'
