Subject: | cygwin1.dll was not found |
Hello, I'm brand new and shiny. I'm attempting to install cygwin in order to install and run mutt. I have no experience with either of them. I have no idea whether cygwin and mutt are what I need. I'll learn by doing. It appears that cygwin failed to install 'cygwin1.dll'. I read the FAQ. I've searched the archives and the net (via Google) for the string "cygwin1.dll was not found". No cigar. Where can I find 'cygwin1.dll' compatible with 'setup.exe' (the cygwin packager), no version # (no StringFileInfo data), dated 2012-04-29, 705,053 bytes? I would assume that when I find it, 'cygwin1.dll' should go here: 'C:\cygwin\bin\'. This is from 'setup.ini': "setup-version: 2.774". Below, for your optional reading pleasure, is a blow-by-blow account of how I got into this situation. Ciao & Thanks for your help... - Mark Filipak. From 'setup.exe' ================ "Package: terminfo terminfo.sh exit code -6" "Package: man man.sh exit code -6" From 'C:\cygwin\bin\mintty.exe -i /Cygwin-Terminal.ico -' ========================================================= Title: "mintty.exe - Unable To Locate Component" "This application has failed to start because cygwin1.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I tried to re-install by rerunning 'setup.exe'. The result: "Package: Unknown package man.sh exit code -6 terminfo.sh exit code -6" Location of files: c:\Setup\Cygwin\http%3a%2f%2fmirror.cs.vt.edu%2fpub%2fcygwin%2fcygwin%2f\release\ Contents: groff\groff-1.21-2.tar.bz2 gzip\gzip-1.4-1.tar.bz2 ipc-utils\ipc-utils-1.0-1.tar.bz2 less\less-444-1.tar.bz2 attr\libattr1\libattr1-2.4.46-1.tar.bz2 bzip2\libbz2_1\libbz2_1-1.0.6-2.tar.bz2 gcc4\libgcc1\libgcc1-4.5.3-3.tar.bz2 gdbm\libgdbm4\libgdbm4-1.8.3-20.tar.bz2 gmp\libgmp3\libgmp3-4.3.2-1.tar.bz2 libiconv\libiconv2\libiconv2-1.14-2.tar.bz2 gettext\libintl8\libintl8-0.18.1.1-2.tar.bz2 xz\liblzma5\liblzma5-5.0.2_20110517-1.tar.bz2 mpfr\libmpfr4\libmpfr4-3.0.1-1.tar.bz2 ncurses\libncurses10\libncurses10-5.7-18.tar.bz2 ncurses\libncurses8\libncurses8-5.5-10.tar.bz2 ncursesw\libncursesw10\libncursesw10-5.7-18.tar.bz2 openssl\libopenssl098\libopenssl098-0.9.8y-1.tar.bz2 pcre\libpcre0\libpcre0-8.21-2.tar.bz2 popt\libpopt0\libpopt0-1.6.4-4.tar.bz2 readline\libreadline7\libreadline7-6.1.2-3.tar.bz2 gcc4\libstdc++6\libstdc++6-4.5.3-3.tar.bz2 login\login-1.10-10.tar.bz2 man\man-1.6g-2.tar.bz2 mintty\mintty-1.1.3-1.tar.bz2 mutt\mutt-1.4.2.2-2.tar.bz2 rebase\rebase-4.4.0-1.tar.bz2 run\run-1.2.0-1.tar.bz2 sed\sed-4.2.1-2.tar.bz2 tar\tar-1.26-1.tar.bz2 terminfo\terminfo0\terminfo0-5.5_20061104-12.tar.bz2 terminfo\terminfo-5.7_20091114-14.tar.bz2 texinfo\texinfo-4.13-4.tar.bz2 tzcode\tzcode-2013c-1.tar.bz2 vim\vim-minimal\vim-minimal-7.3.1152-1.tar.bz2 which\which-2.20-2.tar.bz2 xz\xz-5.0.2_20110517-1.tar.bz2 zlib\zlib0\zlib0-1.2.8-1.tar.bz2 'cygwin1.dll' not found in any of the above.
