> WFM. Try cygcheck /usr/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload/_ssl.dll and > see if any DLLs are missing, and if so, install them. That check led me to a probable version mismatch. /bin held a "cygcrypto-1.0.0.0.dll.new" file -- apparently there was a rename problem during the installation finalization. (I did have to reboot after the original 2.7 installation due to in-use files.) I manually moved the .new version over and all's OK.
