I don't think this kind of innoculation attempt ever really works.
Rather than apologize for an imagined possible gaffe, just ask your
question and hope for the best.  If you've made at least a vague attempt
to understand the guidelines at http://cygwin.com/ you should be ok.

You're running an old snapshot.  That assertion no longer exists in newer
snapshots.
