All, I'm just installed cygwin on a new laptop. I've been using cygwin ssh for years but am stumped by this new install. ~/.ssh/id_rsa file is not checked at login. Instead, /.ssh/id_rsa is checked. Below is the verbose output. Specifying -i works. Adding ~/.ssh/config with IdentifyFile set to ~/.ssh/id_rsa doesn't work. Specifying -F ~/.ssh/config doesn't work. There is an /etc/defaults/etc/ssh/ssh_config file but it's all commented out. There is no /etc/ssh_config. The cygwin install on my OLD laptop correctly looks in ~/.ssh/id_rsa. OLD version is OpenSSH_5.8p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8r 8 Feb 2011.
