To further invesitgate my problem in
http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2011-10/msg00353.html

I installed the current snapshot. Now I get:

~ > rxvt
rxvt: could not obtain control of tty
~ > uname -a
CYGWIN_NT-5.1 p01080268 1.7.10s(0.253/5/3) 20111017 18:26:05 i686 Cygwin
~ >

FWIW: The snapshot seems to mitigate the problem
with the network shares but d2u still has an issue.
But that might be a different one due to weird permissions
that don't allow changing file permissions.
