As I don't see any mention of such bug being fixed in 1.7.9 change log I suppose the really important difference is between the OS versions and/or 32 vs 64 bits. I'll try to install Cygwin into XP and 32 bit Windows 7 to check this too if nobody else posts the test results for these platforms until tomorrow.
