No, this problem is intermittent, perhaps 1-2 times a day during
several hours of use.  It may happen with an `ls` or during some more
intensive processing.

Could you tell me which software you are referring to in?:

If you referring to the /usr/local/bin/ "hides" in `cygcheck -svr`
these are soft links I have for some "legacy" scripts:
8:52:54am @lester:/usr/local/bin% ls -l find
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ingber None 17 Sep 20 13:01 find -> /usr/bin/find.exe*
8:53:00am @lester:/usr/local/bin% ls -l gcc
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ingber None 12 Sep 27 19:24 gcc -> /bin/gcc.exe*
8:53:07am @lester:/usr/local/bin% ls -l grep
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ingber None 13 Dec 12 08:52 grep -> /bin/grep.exe*
8:53:13am @lester:/usr/local/bin% ls -l perl
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ingber None 17 Sep 20 13:01 perl -> /usr/bin/perl.exe*

I do not think I should do anything about the hide in the system:
Warning: C:\cygwin\usr\local\bin\find hides C:\Windows\system32\find.exe


I do not think I am the only one seeing this problem.  E.g., see
