Durwin, I just installed rxvt, ran it as you described, and then ran
screen.  I couldn't reproduce your problem.  I've never used rxvt before,
so it's possible that my configuration is different from yours.

Have you tried to reproduce this problem in a different terminal?  Have you
tried removing your .screenrc?

WAG is that it might have something to do with libncurses9.  I'm working
now on rebuilding screen with libncurses10.  When I have a new package I'll
let you try it out and see if that fixes the problem.
